Tech Drives 28.8% Surge in Arab Stock Trading Volume in July

by admin477351

In a notable development for Arab stock markets, July saw a substantial increase in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded rising by 28.82% compared to June. The total trading volume reached 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares the previous month. This surge in trading was primarily fueled by activities on the Iraq Stock Exchange, followed closely by Egypt’s market.

Despite the heightened trading volume, the overall value of transactions decreased by 16.82%, falling to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. This decline in transaction value was observed across several major Arab markets, including those in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait.

The performance of regional stock markets exhibited a mixed trend throughout July. Notably, Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as a strong performer, registering a gain of 5.85% over the month. Several other exchanges in the region also experienced gains, although the overall results varied significantly between markets.

Meanwhile, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable. It experienced a modest increase of 0.06%, bringing the total to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization comes amid the contrasting trends of increased trading volumes and decreased transaction values.

The latest figures underscore a dynamic landscape in Arab stock markets, marked by robust trading activities despite the challenges of declining transaction values and varied performance among key equity markets in the region.
