Saudi Arabia and France are enhancing their strategic partnership as they look forward to marking a century of diplomatic relations in 2026. According to French Ambassador Patrick Maisonnave, the relationship between the two nations has seen significant growth, with collaboration expanding in numerous sectors that align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
This strengthened partnership now spans a variety of key areas including culture, tourism, artificial intelligence, technology, energy, healthcare, defense, education, and urban development. A prominent example of their collaboration is the AlUla development project. Further initiatives in digital innovation, entertainment, and esports underscore this burgeoning relationship.
On matters concerning regional security, France and Saudi Arabia maintain a close coordination on several issues such as Gulf security, ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the pursuit of a two-state solution, maintaining Lebanon’s stability, and the reconstruction efforts in Syria. Both countries have reiterated their dedication to diplomacy, adherence to international law, and seeking political solutions to foster peace and stability in the region.
The growth in Saudi-French ties signifies a commitment not only to strengthening diplomatic relations but also to driving forward mutual objectives that are in line with broader regional and global goals. As they approach the centennial celebration of their diplomatic ties, both nations continue to find common ground in addressing complex regional challenges while embracing opportunities for further cooperation.
