In a significant move to bolster technological ties, Saudi Arabia and South Korea have pledged to enhance their cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment. This commitment was solidified during a series of high-level meetings in Seoul, marking a pivotal moment in the partnership between the two nations.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha, along with Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, engaged in discussions with senior South Korean government officials. These talks revolved around collaboration in AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, with a shared vision of fostering innovation and strengthening the digital economy. A key focus was on advancing Saudi Arabia’s aspirations to emerge as a global hub for artificial intelligence.

Furthermore, the discussions extended to enhancing digital government services, with both countries exploring cooperation in unified government platforms and digital identity systems. The strategic use of AI to improve public services was also on the agenda, emphasizing the potential for closer collaboration between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.

In addition to governmental talks, Minister Al-Swaha met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to explore investment opportunities. The discussions centered on supporting Saudi startups, expanding their global presence, and encouraging technology investment in Saudi Arabia. This dialogue is part of the Kingdom’s broader strategy to establish robust global technology partnerships, attract significant investments, and accelerate the development of an AI-driven digital economy.
