Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet underscored the critical importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through strategic waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, Bab Al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. During their meeting on Tuesday, the Cabinet highlighted the need to revert the conditions in the Strait of Hormuz to those prior to February 28, removing any fees or restrictions that have since been imposed. They firmly rejected any use of these vital maritime routes to apply pressure, issue threats, or compromise the interests of other nations.
The Cabinet’s discussions also extended to broader regional security issues, emphasizing the significance of these waterways for global trade and regional stability. Moreover, they welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s condemnation of the escalating attacks against Saudi Arabia by the Houthi forces, which have contributed to regional tensions.
In addition to maritime security, the Cabinet addressed the ongoing Palestinian issue, condemning any actions that alter the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. They reiterated Saudi Arabia’s longstanding position advocating for a two-state solution to achieve lasting peace. This solution includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Cabinet also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s engagement in international forums such as the United Nations General Assembly. They highlighted the nation’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and supporting multilateral initiatives, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s broader foreign policy objectives.
